Do I have to season my cutting board?

Before first use, you will want to season your cutting board. In addition, seasoning your cutting board periodically will make the board much more resistant to rot, keep it from drying out or warping.

How do I season my cutting board?

Slightly warm a food-grade mineral oil then lightly apply the oil on a clean, dry cloth. Apply the oiled cloth directly to the cutting board in the direction of the grain. Allow the oil to soak in and repeat with a second oil application. Let the board set overnight to allow the oil to penetrate the wood. Wipe off any excess oil that may remain.

How to clean my cutting board?

Wash with hot, soapy water then dry thoroughly by hand. Apply a small amount of food-grade mineral oil after the board is fully dry to prevent cracks.

Can I soak my cutting board in water?

No! Wood is a porous material and soaks up liquid, which can lead to internal moisture ultimately causing your cutting board to crack, warp, or rot internally.

Can I put my cutting board in the dishwasher?

No! Never put a wood cutting board of any kind in the dishwasher.

What do I do if my cutting board starts to smell?

Mix kosher salt and half of a lemon to create a paste. Let this paste sit on the board for about 3 minutes then wipe clean with a damp cloth.Remove any extra moisture with a clean paper towel then stand the boardon its end to air dry. Apply a small amount of food-grade mineral oilafter the board is fully dry to prevent cracking.

Yes! A food-grade mineral oil works great, but you can also use pure coconut oil.
